Rejection and Rejoice
A lovers tale
A lovers tale
So we met back in September last year, meeting for a quick drink and book swap. Immediately it was clear that we were going to get along brilliantly - it was like we had known each other for years! Honest. It sounds extremely cheesy but there really was a strong creative connection between us, something very different from what we had felt with other partners.
Despite this we continued to work with other partners. We actually thought us getting on so well would be a negative thing?!? How very naive we were!!
At one point I (Elena) rejected Claire for someone else, soon realising this was the wrong decision; only for her to reject me later on! However, after a couple of months, we both found ourselves in a similar position, longing to be together! :D After working with each other again, really giving it a good shot this time, we couldn’t understand why we hadn’t just done what we both instinctively knew was best in the first place. We now laugh A LOT over the fact we truly believed getting on so well would be a hindrance.
We were clearly meant to be together: we both studied Graphic Design up north (although were Southerners), later to decide advertising was for us. Claire’s family grew up in my home town and the date of my birthday (May 20th) has stuck in Claire's head from a young age, after she guessed the birth date of a random boy at school. He was 17 and trying to intimidate/flirt with her at the age of 12!? Odd! When she guessed his birthday. It was a complete fluke but she got it right, May 20th, he went off her and thought she was a witch!
So this (along with some wise words from Simon Veksner about trusting your instinct) enabled us to make the decision to commit to each other and settle down. Joint blog and everything.
